- Matter and Classification : Constitution of the matter, elements, isotopes ; physical and chemical properties of matter.
- Measurement : units ; handling numbers ; scientific notation ; significant figures and dimensional analysis.
- Mole concept : Avogadro constant ; molar mass of an element ; calculation of quantities using the mole.
- Aqueous Solution : constitution ; solute, solvent ; water - the universal solvent; molarity, molality, mol fraction ; preparation of solution
- Naming compound and Formulas : naming and writing formula of inorganic compounds, acid and bases, hydrates; naming organic compounds : IUPAC, functional groups.
- Data analysis : scientific method ; recovering information from data ; presentation of data, table, graphs ; control variable ; standard deviation.
- Stoichiometry and formulas : percent composition ; determination of empirical and molecular formulas ; combustion analysis ; excess and limiting reagent ; reaction yield.

- Understand the properties of a reaction to determine : limiting reagent, empirical and molecular formulas, combustion analysis
