Description du contenu de l'enseignement

The objective of this course is to offer students a comprehensive overview about the role played by finance in the growth of economies. Students will familiarize with the sills necessary to analyse the main sources of financing for development and how they contribute to stimulate economic development. In order to bridge the gap between theory and practice, students will make several discussions and exercises throughout the lecture and are expected to make oral presentations.

Compétences à acquérir

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to
- (level 1) recognize the role of the financial sector in economic development
- (level 1) describe the structure of the global financial system, international capital flows, and domestic sources of financing.
- (level 4) point out the functions, evolution, and impact of microfinance institutions
- (level 5) measure a country’s level of financial development using wide range of standard indicators.
- (level 4) analyze financial development policies and their role in enhancing economic growth.
